A Velvet Awakening

Spring in the Green Mountains of Vermont is welcomed by everyone - Vermonters and visitors alike. Spring is when winter’s snowy slumber awakens to the verdant hues of lush meadows, the gentle bubbling of newly freshened streams and majestic trees that sway in the warm sunny breezes. Often called Mud Season by the locals - and for good reason, all the melting snow can make for some soggy ground, but worry not - it doesn’t last long.

Recreation and Pastimes

Summer arrives quickly in the Green Mountains. After enjoying the warming breezes of April and May which teased nature back to life, suddenly in June the temperatures soar well into the 80’s. Deep blue skies are punctuated by brilliant cumulus clouds, passing rains and spectacular thunderstorms rack the mountaintops - almost always departing in a rainbow.

The Fiery Colors

Fall is when the Green Mountains shine - literally. Starting in September, the “green” in the Green Mountains gradually gives way to the vivid colors of the Vermont autumn. Shining like the embers of a perfect campfire the forests are slowly transformed into a blazing cauldron of color and contrast.

The Art of Snow

White. Fluffy. Silent. The winter snows bring harmony and a serene peace to the Green Mountains. As the snows blanket the landscape it blurs and connects the shapes of mountains, meadows and waters into a pastoral wonderland. To simply walk among the bowed evergreen branches in fresh powder and perhaps follow the winding trail of a cottontail is a magical experience.
